Boundary Bay Brewery Advances to 2nd Round of IPA Championships!
So, we beat out Hop Hog IPA from Lancaster Brewing in the first round of the National IPA Championships. And now, we’re up against Racer 5 IPA from Bear Republic Brewing Co from Sonoma.
Bear Republic says this about their IPA: “This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style.”
This promises to be a really interesting match up! We described our IPA as “a honey-amber colored India Pale Ale with good body, fairly strong alcohol content and an aggressive “fresh hop” quality. A very refreshing beer, IPA can be enjoyed by itself for its many interesting flavor highlights. It also goes well with lighter foods like chicken, pasta, seafood or spicy foods.”
Round 2 is in Grand Rapids, MI on February 28th…so keep checking back and see how our IPA is fairing! Don’t forget to check out Brewing News website to get all the details about the IPA Championship!
