Boundary Bay Brewery began brewing in 1995 and from our very first day, we’ve been brewing with a system designed by Vince Cottone of Sound Brewing Systems, Inc.  The mash tun that we’ve used for all these years was built specifically for us in 1994 since, at the time, not many people were brewing quite the way we do…with lots of ingredients.  This mash tun was specially made to accommodate our particular brewing style, but today is the last day we’ll brew in it since we’re getting a brand new mash tun installed tonight.  We’ll be bringing this huge piece of equipment right through the wall separating the brewing area from our tap room, which is why we’ve got to do some serious renovation very, very early in the a.m. hours.  Over the years, our mash tun has brewed around 3,000 batches and averaged between 9-12 barrels per batch.  We’re hoping to get about 17 barrels per batch with our new mash tun!  Check out our new equipment when you stop in tomorrow for a Chili Beer on Cinco De Mayo!
