There are unique challenges to working in the nonprofit sector and, thankfully, around here we’ve got the Whatcom Council of Nonprofits to help! The Whatcom Council of Nonprofits seeks to strengthen Whatcom County’s nonprofits by building relationships, sharing resources, and communicating the vital role of nonprofit organizations in our community. They work collaboratively to increase their capacity to improve the quality of life in Whatcom County, to ensure that nonprofits will be recognized as vital partners with government and business to create and sustain economic prosperity, community health and civic engagement, and to build nonprofits that are healthy and vibrant organizations.
One of the ways the Council seeks to strengthen the nonprofit community is to host Schmoozefests!
What’s a Schmoozefest, you ask? Well, it’s an opportunity for people who work for nonprofits to network, build relationships and help each other wherever they can. This Schmoozefest is free and open to nonprofit staff, board members, volunteers, and friends. It’s simply a time to join your colleagues and celebrate the good work you are all doing.
The event will be held July 22, 2009 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm at the Boundary Bay Brewery Beer Garden. Don’t forget to bring your friends AND your business cards, brochures, good spirits, plus a few bucks for fabulous beer.
