One of our favorite things about Boundary Bay Brewery is our amazing Beer Garden. We are lucky enough to have a beautiful outdoor space right in the middle of downtown that not only beautifies our town and keeps our customers happy, but also serves as a certified Backyard Wildlife Habitat. This summer we’ve entered the Boundary Bay Brewery Beer Garden in the Whatcom County in Bloom competition.
The Whatcom County in Bloom Friendly Competition is a community beautification project. The program enourages greater and more imaginative use of flowers and other plants to make our surroundings even more beautiful. The interesting part of this competition is that you don’t really know exactly when the judges are going to stop by, but they leave a note in your garden to let you know they’ve been there.
We found a little note from the judges in our garden this morning that said “The grounds look great! The ‘feel’ of your restaurant flows out into the same feel of the gardens. The garden seat and the nastursum container in front is wonderful! Thank you.”
The judges, all horticultural specialists and landscape designers, will award First, Second and Third place certificates for each category (individual business, residential, etc.) as well as trophies to recognize special efforts or outstanding features in the gardens entered this year. The awards ceremony will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 7p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. The ceremony and reception will be held at the Whatcom County Courthouse 311 Grand Bellingham in the Council Chambers and Rotunda.
