If you find yourself in West Olympia hankering for some good food and a nice big pint of Boundary Bay Brewery beer, check out the Iron Rabbit located at 2103 Harrison Ave NW. Open at 11am daily, this restaurant and bar offers up a diverse menu for lunch and dinner every day…plus brunch from 11am-2pm on the weekends!
Locally owned and operated since 2005, the Iron Rabbit focuses on providing a casual atmosphere that is built upon great service, amazing food and high quality beverages. This place wants to make sure you enjoy yourself and pride themselves on fine dining without all the pretense. Want food recommendations? Need special requests and/or substitutions for your meal? Wanna bring your kids? Want separate checks…for everyone at the table? No problem! Yep, you heard it right: Iron Rabbit believes that they are here to make sure you have a great time and they’ll do whatever they can to make that happen. And as they say on their website: “We stand by all our products nd we listen. If for some strange reason we blow it, just stand up and yell at us. We will fix it.”
What’s not to like about this place?! And we haven’t even talked about the food yet! The Iron Rabbit likes to describe their food as new spins on old classics, but they’ve got unique creations for the whole family on their menu too. If you’re heading over for lunch, try one of their “non-wimpy” salads like the Spinach Bacon salad that’s made with their house bacon balsamic dressing, smoky bacon, roasted red peppers and spinach, topped with asiago cheese and onion strings (you can add chicken or Portobello mushrooms too!). Or how about their New Delhi wrap which is marinated chicken breast, soba noodles, red bell pepper, cucumber and toasted coconut with curried aioli and sweet chili-garlic sauce wrapped in a tomato tortilla?
And, if you’re craving something a little more hearty, try one of their gourmet burgers. All of their burgers are made from all-natural Harris Ranch Black Angus beef and they’re each served with your choice of coleslaw, chips and salsa or French fries. Try a classic like the Cowboy Iron Burger (basically just a bacon cheese burger topped with onion rings and BBQ sauce) or a wilder variety like the Sicilian burger: a balsamic glazed burger with Cypress Grove chevre goat cheese, roasted garlic, red onions, spring greens and roasted red peppers with pesto aioli spread.
You can order off their lunch menu all day, but after 4pm the Iron Rabbit serves up their dinner menu too which has dishes designed more for those who want a “dining experience.” Indulge in Wild Sockeye salmon pan seared and topped with hazelnut butter, Italian potato dumplings in a creamy basil pesto sauce or try one of their signature dishes like the Etruscan Chicken which is a chicken breast charbroiled and topped with seared tomato, drizzled with balsamic glaze and served with tzatziki sauce.
If you’ve got Vegetarians in your group, there’s plenty of menu options for them too! Besides the obligatory salads, there’s a Veggie Wrap made from pepper jack cheese, tomatoes, olives, roasted red peppers, tempura-battered green beans and red onion with cilantro aioli in a tomato tortilla or the Vegetarian Quesadilla. Perhaps the Portobello burger will do the trick or maybe the Artichoke Heart Alfredo which is a bed of linguini, enrobed (yes, this is really what their menu says!) in Alfredo sauce with seared artichoke hearts and garnished with asiago cheese. And don’t worry, you carnivores…if that Alfredo is looking good to you, but you crave some more protein, you can always add chicken breast, blackened salmon or Andouille sausage. Oh, and save room for dessert! They’ll tempt you with Northwest Berry Cobbler, a flourless chocolate torte with raspberry coulis or their house made bread pudding with their caramel whiskey sauce and whipped cream.
We are thrilled to include the Iron Rabbit among the many great places that serve Boundary Bay Brewery beer on tap. We love that this place is locally owned and operated, that the menu and the atmosphere are designed to welcome everyone and that it’s a place made for the whole family. Go check it out…and tell them Boundary Bay sent ya!
