Boundary Bay is delighted and honored to have loyal ‘Bounders’ like Liz and Chuck Mather supporting our Brewery and Bistro. These awesome folks decided to have a painting done of their “favorite place”– Boundary Bay. But what’s uniquely special about this piece, is the fact that Liz and Chuck are highlighted in portrait, sitting together in the tap-room with their Boundary Ales. This painting epitomizes the contagious Bellingham community spirit, that keeps local businesses like us thriving… and ALL of us at Boundary Bay are truly honored.
The painting was made by local artist Lanny Little; known for his remarkable photographic mural pieces. Lanny has become recognized in Bellingham for his public murals, and has recently emerged as a prolific painter of the Northwest landscapes. “Landscape painting is my way of defining my relationship to the natural world”, Little states, “I go in search of interesting visual phenomena and capture digital images for later reference in my studio. My goal is to convey a feeling of what it is like to be at a specific place at a specific time; to have the viewer experience something beyond a mere reproduction of the subject matter.”
When we asked why the couple decided to have this painting done, this is what Chuck had to say:
“As to why, we love Boundary Bay…we love everything about BB and wanted to have a painting of our favorite place. My wife Liz and I do a lot of non-profit work and Janet [general manager of Boundary Bay] has always been very accommodating in helping us procure auction items. We truly wanted to have a piece of Bellingham/Boundary Bay that we could pass down to our children. Thanks for everything you all do!”
How cool is that! :)
