Bold Predictions: Super Bowl Edition

What’s my favorite way to enjoy the Super Bowl if I can’t make it to the Brewery? Grabbing a Growler of Boundary Bay IPA (64 oz. fills cost 32 oz. price on Sunday, only until the game ends!) and Take & Bake Mac & Cheese. One pan feeds 12-15 hungry people and it’s only $35! Get your order by emailing ilana@bbaybrewery.com.

Pro Bowl Recap: Normally, I’m not too interested in an “allstar game.” No blitzing, soft-tackles…boring… But anytime five Seahawks playing, I have to tune in. Richard Sherman, Tyler Lockett, Bobby Wagner, Michael Bennett, and Russell Willson were quite fun to watch. Wilson hit Falcons WR Julio Jones, Falcons RB Devonta Freeman, and Rams RB Todd Gurley for touchdowns. Russell was named the games MVP and was a major part of team Irivns success.

Back to Real Football:

The matchup is set. Super Bowl 50 is here. The Denver Broncos will take on the Carolina Panthers at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

So how did we get here…?

DEN vs. NE: Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Philips should have told me “Don’t pick New England.” He had a great game plan and made the Patriots offense fight for every yard. His defense brought the pressure to Tom Brady and his linemen. He was hit constantly during that game. I thought Gronk and Edelman would be able to catch the ball quickly and move up the field. Brady had some impressive 4th down throws but it was too little too late. A missed extra point proved costly. It forced New England to attempt a 2-point conversion for the tie…they didn’t convert. Brady would finish the game with 2 ints a completion percentage below 50%. Every game Peyton Manning started this season he’s thrown an interception, except this one. #GoManning

Recap AZ vs CAR: I picked the Cardinals to win this game, boy was I wrong. It wasn’t even a competitive game. The Panthers dominated on defense, allowing their offense to cash in. Cam Newton threw multiple touchdowns and also rushed for two. It just wasn’t Carson Palmers day. He was under pressure the whole game and could never get into a rhythm. He threw four interceptions, along with two fumbles. You can’t win like that, even in Madden.

SB50: I have the Carolina Panthers beating the Denver Broncos, 24-13.

I know, it’s Cam Newton and the Panthers. I, like most people in Washington, don’t really like them. They dance, they play well, and they know it. I believe they will score 14 points early, and force the elderly Manning to play from behind. He just can’t do it like he used to. When Peyton has found rhythm, it’s when he throws across the middle and to his right. That’s where the interceptions will happen. Luke Kuechly and Josh Norman live there.

Once Carolina has the lead, they will grind with their diverse run game and play action. Wade Philips‘s defense is good, and will get to Cam, but that unit can’t make Manning’s arm any younger. Carolina’s defense has shown it can stop the run that Manning leans on. We might even have a Brock Osweiler sighting. Okay maybe too far, but I’m trying to be bold for SB50.

Well, that’s what I see happening this Sunday. Hope you all enjoy the commercials, half time show. Oh yeah, and the football.
