Boundary Bay Brewery Donates $2,000 to Red Cross

Posted on February 25, 2010 by Boundary Bay

On Valentines Day, we kicked off a week long fundraising event called Have A Heart 4 Haiti here at Boundary Bay Brewery.  The event turned out to be a great success and resulted in over $2,000 donated to the American Red Cross.

We provided opportunities throughout the week for the Bellingham community to help support the Haiti relief efforts.  On Valentines Day, our servers donated a portion of their tips and the brewery matched the tips for a total of $1,386.  Through the week a Heart 4 Haiti dessert was available and 100% of the proceeds were donated with Boundary Bay Brewery again matching the funds for a total of $290.  $147 was generated from the weekly Happy Hours where $1 was donated for every Heart 4 Haiti beer purchased and $296 was raised at our Friday night Late Show with PanPan and Talkdemonic.

At the end of the week, Boundary Bay Brewery was proud to donate $2,119 to the American Red Cross on behalf of the brewery and it’s devoted, generous customers.   Thank you to all who participated and helped us raise money for the relief efforts in Haiti.  Cheers!

Live Music, The Red Cross and Beer

Posted on February 18, 2010 by Boundary Bay

This week, we’ve been raising money to donate to the American Red Cross.  It’s our Have A Heart 4 Haiti fundraiser at Boundary Bay Brewery.  We came up with lots of ways to create opportunities for our patrons to donate – from a special dessert to donating $1 per pint for every Heart 4 Haiti beer sold during Happy Hour.  Our servers donating a portion of thier tips from Valentine’s Day and we, as the brewery, matched their donations.  So far, we’ve raised over $1,500 to donate to the Red Cross for their Haiti Relief efforts.  And, the week’s not over yet!

Tonight, (Thursday, Feb. 18th) during our Happy Hour, we’ll be serving a special cask of ESB .  And we will donate $1 from each pint of that cask ale we sell tonight from 4-6pm.  Come in and have a pint or two to celebrate Friday’s imminent return and donate to a very good cause at the same time!  Our special Heart 4 Haiti dessert – a white chocolate cream puff – is available all week too and we are donating 100% of the profits from each dessert sold.

Our fundraising week will end with a live show in our tap room on Friday night, Feb. 19th.  PanPan and Talkdemonic will be gracing our Tap Room at 10:30 pm and 100% of the $4 cover will be donated to the Red Cross.  Marinda Peugh, a representative for the Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross, will be here at Boundary Bay Brewery that night to talk for a few minutes about what they are doing in Haiti and what they do here locally.

Check out the One Month Report from the Red Cross that outlines the relief efforts in Haiti to date.  See how YOU can help!  Come Have A Heart 4 Haiti at Boundary Bay Brewery!

Have A Heart 4 Haiti

Posted on February 1, 2010 by Boundary Bay

In the face of tragedy like what we’re all seeing in Haiti, it is often difficult to know how to help.  It is easy to become overwhelmed and believe that you, alone, can’t make a difference.  But here at Boundary Bay Brewery, we believe that we should all do what we can and that every small bit helps.  There are relief efforts sprouting up across the globe and communities are coming together to help in all kinds of creative, heartwarming ways.  Boundary Bay Brewery is eager to do what we can, too.

Beginning on Valentine’s Day, Boundary Bay Brewery is holding a week-long event we’re calling: “Have a Heart 4 Haiti”.  All week long we’ll be offering up special opportunities for you to donate money to the American Red Cross. And, at the end of the week, Boundary Bay Brewery will be matching the total amount of funds raised through the week.

Here’s how it works: our servers will be donating a portion of their tips from Valentine’s Day, we’ll have dessert specials throughout the week with 100% of the proceeds from sales being donated, and the Late Show fundraiser with PanPan and Talkdemonic on Friday, February 19th (all $ from covers donated).

Best of all, is the Buck a Beer Happy Hour Donations where a particular beer is featured every Happy Hour (Sunday-Thursday 4-6pm) and one dollar is donated for each pint of that brew purchased.

More than 430 Red Cross and Red Crescent workers from at least 30 countries are in Haiti supporting thousands of local volunteers.  The relief operation in Haiti is already the largest single-country personnel deployment in global Red Cross history.  Red Cross responders from eight countries are treating approximately 500 people each day at medical facilities throughout the capital city.  Other Red Cross teams are focused on purifying the water supply and are delivering clean drinking water to 400,000 people each day.  So far, more than 2 million liters of water have been distributed.  And there’s still so much to do!

Join us in helping to support the American Red Cross.  Come Have A Heart 4 Haiti at Boundary Bay Brewery February 14th -19th! We’ve come up with some fun ways to help raise money…no matter which day of the week you get down here.

“Mesmerizing—that’s probably the easiest way to describe Talkdemonic, although plenty of other words have been utilized in an attempt to communicate what this Portland duo create with just a laptop, drums, and viola. Who needs words, though? This vocal-free combo crafts music that’s intense, emotional, and utterly engaging—they are infinitely better experienced firsthand than read about. See for yourself why they’ve become one of the most talked-about groups in Portland’s up-and-coming music scene.” –Barbara Mitchell, The Stranger

“Best known for her skills as a trumpeter with The Love Lights as well as hitting the horns with the Presidents of the United States of America, Bellingham’s Sarah Jerns has stepped into the lead with her solo project Pan Pan. Full of beautiful and haunting melodies on piano and trumpet, Pan Pan goes far beyond the standard fair of college rock, stretching the boundaries of local music.” –Brent Cole, What’s Up
