All About April Brews Day

Posted on March 31, 2010 by Boundary Bay

On April 24th, Bellingham will be the site of the April Brews Day celebration–a beer festival and fundraiser. All proceeds will benefit the Max Higbee Center, a non-profit agency that provides recreational opportunities for teens and adults with developmental disabilities.  Boundary Bay Brewery has sponsored this event for years and it’s one of our favorites…what could be more fun then getting together over 20 Northwest breweries to help raise money for a local nonprofit?  That’s exactly the kind of thing Boundary Bay Brewery is all about!

The Max Higbee Center expresses just why this festival and fundraiser is so important:  “Thank you so very much for your generous support. Each and every dollar made at April Brews Day goes directly to support the Max Higbee Center. April Brews Day is by far our largest source of revenue for the center and your support has been crucial to our ability to keep the center open and thriving! Thank you!  The success of last year’s April Brews Day has enhanced our programs in several ways that added up fast. Examples include – adding additional staff to a program, adding an extra phone line, renting extra facilities such as the planetarium and school gyms, offering special programs such as the 25 year celebration, monthly “friendraisers”, summer bbq and an annual snowshoe trip. It helps cover the cost of our supplies for cooking and art projects. In general it helps us enhance or programs and allows us to continue providing for clients regardless of their ability to pay.”

Advance tickets go on sale April 1st…and you can get them right here at Boundary Bay Brewery!  Tickets are $15 advance, $20 door. Admission includes a collectable tasting glass and scrip for tasting. Additional beer samples and food from local vendors will be available for purchase. Enjoy live music from Sabrina y Los Reyes at this large indoor/outdoor event.

April Brews Day!

Posted on April 21, 2009 by Boundary Bay

schoonerBoundary Bay Brewery is excited to participate in April Brews Day this Saturday…April 25th.  The event is taking place at the Depot Market Square…home of the Bellingham Farmers Market, which just also happens to be conveniently located across the street from our brewery!  From 6-10 pm you can taste lots of local brews, grab some food from local vendors, and listen to Sabrina y Los Reyes (a great local band!)…all while helping to support the Max Higbee Center which provides recreational opportunites for teens and adults with developmental disabilities.  We will have some our usual favorites on tap like our IPA and our Oatmeal Stout, but we’ll also be pouring some special beers that you can’t get your hands on very often!  Most interestingly, we’re bringing a Ginger Peach Blond Ale that we first made for the Strange BrewFest that happens in late January every year.  It got rave reviews from the festival goers at Strange BrewFest and we’ve had repeated requests for us to brew it more often, so now’s your chance to sample this unusual beer and give us your opinion on it.  Last but not least, we’ll have our Squilchuck Pale there…a double dry hopped ESB style beer.  Come check us out and help support the Max Higbee Center at April Brews Day on Saturday!  See you there.
