Collaboration Beer Dinner

Brewer Bryan Krueger and Chef Matt Hansen have teamed up with the The Local‘s Chef, Brandon Petersen, and Menace Brewing to create an exquisite 5-course menu, highlighting the collaborative and sustainable efforts of Sustainable Connections EAT LOCAL MONTH and Bellingham Beer Week. First Course: Crab Stuffed Endive paired with BBB pilsnerGreen tomato coulis, saffron-avocado crème fraiche, pickled lime, roasted corn and poblano relish.

Second Course: Figs in a Blanket paired with Not Shawn’s Saison Puff pastry wrapped figs stuffed with gorgonzola, manchego, and brie. Served with fig-apple compote.

Third Course (The Local and Menace Brewery): Smoked Cod Napoleon paired with Sorachi Ace dry hopped wheat beer. Potato crisps, sweet corn puree, heirloom tomato and citrus vinaigrette tossed herb salad.

Fourth Course: Saddle of Rabbit paired with Harvest Rye Proscuitto wrapped and stuffed with cavelstrano olives, roasted shallot, chanterelle mushrooms, marjoram and fennel jam.

Dessert: Coffee Porter Torte paired with Cacao-infused Imperial Porter Silky ganache, porter marzipan, joconde spongecake.

Disneyland for adults…10 days of craft beer related events all over the city! The 3rd annual Bham Beer Week runs September 12th-21st. Kick off your Beer Week by cracking a can of Kristalweizen! This year, Boundary brewed and canned the 2nd annual Bellingham Collaboration Beer, Whatcom Wheat Kristalweizen, in participation with our eight Whatcom County breweries: Aslan, Chuckanut, Gruff, Kulshan, Menace, Northfork, Stones Throw and Wander. Whatcom Wheat can be found in 16oz cans throughout the Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish and King County areas.

Here’s what Boundary’s up to for Beer Week: 

• 9/12 Brewshed Happy Hour Beer Week kicks off on Friday, September 12th with a Brewshed Happy Hour in the Beer Garden. Come enjoy Boundary, Wander and Aslan brews at our Friday Fish Fry. For every pint sold, a $1 will go to WA Wild: a non profit organization who works to protect Washington’s wild river systems and the lands they flow through, many of which supply drinking water to Washington communities and provide the water to create delicious local beers. 

• 9/13 Compete for a Cause Cribbage Tournament Cribbage is one of those games that young and old, stranger and friend can play together in good spirited fun. It’s an all-inclusive way to put a positive spin on conflict-through friendly competition. We hope you will join in the fun and continue to support the WDRC  at the 8th Annual Compete for a Cause Tournament. The tournament is held in the Boundary Bay beer garden and starts at 10am. We’ll start the morning off with mimosas and have the bar and BBQ open by the afternoon. Early registration is strongly encouraged and spectators are welcome. You can register online or right here at Boundary Bay over a pint! Forms can be picked up and dropped off at the bar. We also have a downlodable form you can print and bring in. Early registration $25 adults, $20 for seniors & students [Day of is $30] Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend, though some knowledge of the game helps. Start practicing!

• 9/16 Boundary’s 19th Anniversary! We’re legal…in Canada! In celebration of our 19th Birthday, we’ll be releasing Batch 5,000 Imperial Porter.  Swing by and try this heavy weight of a brew. If you like our Oatmeal Stout, you’re gonna love this. We recommend pairing it with dessert!

• 9/16 FemALES Join Bellingham’s women in the craft beer industry and their beer. We’ll hear from all our local brewery women reps about their love of beer. Includes tastes from all the Bellingham breweries. This is a fundraiser for Opportunity Council’s Women Programs. @7pm // 21+

• 9/17 Finish Festival with Olli Hirvonen Olli Hirvonen will be performing with his trio, Red Reiter, on Wednesday, September 17th at 7pm. The Finlandia Foundation presents a night of beautiful Finish guitar music paired with a delicious Finish menu. $15 cover, all ages welcome.

Ready for Beer Week Bellingham? The planning is well underway, and we thought you might like to know what we’ve got lined up here at Bbay:

According to the owner of Chocolate Necessities, Kevin Buck, nothing pairs better with chocolate, than a tasty brew (and yes, this includes wine!) Naturally, we think so too : ) so, we’ve partnered up with Kevin to bring you an educational tasting experience that will surely please your pallets. Chocolate Necessities imports and produces some of the finest chocolates you will ever taste… We use a variety of remarkable ingredients gathered through years of inquiry into specialty sources — Amarena cherries, Agostoni chocolate and real pastry liquors from Italy, Vanuatu chocolate from Belgium, vanilla from Tahiti.

Everything we make is handcrafted to give you the best chocolate experience.  So why not offer a two-fer; the best chocolate AND beer experience in one!? Stop by during any day of Beer Week and sample Chocolate Necessities paired with Boundary Bay Beers. How does our Imperial IPA paired with Chocolate covered Lemon Sticks from France sound? On Monday, September 23^rd at 7:00, we’ll be hosting a delicious 5 course beer dinner led by Chef Matt Hansen and our Head Brewer Aaron Jacob Smith. Tickets are of very limited availability and will go fast. They can be purchased at Boundary Bay for $50 a person.  (21+ Only). Here’s how the menu is shaping up:

Roasted Yellow Pepper & Jerusalem Artichoke Soup, w/ Szechuan Peppercorn ESB
Locally Foraged Mushroom and Goat Cheese Parcel, paired with Harvest Rye Ale
Lamb and Rose Stuffed Quail with Harissa and Apricots, paired with Amber Ale
Choucroute Garnie made with local Carne sausages, infused with Scotch Ale
Oatmeal Stout Donut with Irish Stout Creme Anglaise paired with Irish Stout

Oktoberfest in the Beer Garden at 5pm on Thursday, September 26th!  We know we know, its not technically October yet…but we just can’t wait that long. Get ready to put on your lederhosen and tighten up your dirndl, were going to be dancing, drinkin’ and eating pretzels all night long! Not only are we hosting our annual celebration in the Beer Garden, but the next day on the 27^th, we’re also running an Oktoberfest BREWS Cruise on the Bay with San Juan Cruises.  Two days of Oktoberfestitivies…WE THINK YES!

Don’t forget the Beer and Bike ride set for the 29^th at Noon. The biking parade will start at Boundary, head to Kulshan, to Elizabeth Station, Chuckanut Brewery and finally end at the Copper Hog. Last year’s ride was a blast and we cant wait for you to be apart of it!

Bellingham Beer Week 2013

We’re coming up on the 2^nd annual Bellingham Beer Week (Septmber 20-29^th) and this year…we’ve got the events stacked all day and all night.

Celebrate Bellingham’s craft beer scene with an entire week (+ 3 more days because one week isn’t long enough) dedicated soley to the love, exploration, and passion of Craft Brewing. Boundary Bay, and several of the other awesome breweries and pubs in town, are assembling together to give you 10 whole days of non-stop “ale-related” events. (AKA Disney Land for adults.) The possibilities of the potential events you can attend are overwhelming, so TAKE A GOOD LOOK at what might interest you — AND GET OUT AND ENJOY YOURSELVES!
