Jamie Moyer, a Major League Baseball player with 24 seasons under his belt, is coming to the Boundary Bay Brewery beer garden from 3-4pm on Tuesday, July 19th. He’ll be speaking about the Bellingham Bells and his work with the Moyer Foundation as well as taking time to sign autographs after being introduced by the Bellingham Bells owner Eddie Poplawski.
Moyer played for the Mariners for 10 seasons, was voted Mariner’s Pitcher of the Year in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2003 and was named to the American League All-Star Team. He wore the title of the oldest active player in the Major Leagues as well as having the most wins, losses and strikeouts of any active Major League pitcher.
But baseball isn’t all Jamie Moyer’s known for! Along with his wife, Karen, He co-founded the Moyer Foundation in 2000 to “…provide comfort and support to children enduring a time of profound physical, emotional or financial distress.” (http://www.moyerfoundation.org/) The Foundation has raised millions of dollars to support hundreds of programs taking care of kids in times of distress and have set up camps designed for children dealing with bereavement and/or addiction in their families.
After the event in our Beer Garden, fans will be heading to the Bellingham Bells game for a $2 Tuesday! Cheer on the Bells as they go up against the Corvalis Knights and enjoy $2 drinks (including Boundary Bay Brewery beer!) during the game, $2 nachos and a $2 Bleacher Reserved ticket with the purchase of a full price one.
If you can’t make it to the Boundary Bay Brewery beer garden on Tuesday, the 19th, you’ll have another chance the following night to catch up with Jamie Moyer. He will be at Joe Martin Field and the first 1,000 fans in to the game will receive a Jamie Moyer bobblehead wearing a Bells uniform. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets for the game either online through the Bellingham Bells website (http://www.bellinghambells.com/) or by contacting the Bells at 360-527-1035 in order to avoid waiting at the gate. This is sure to be a sell out!
And don’t forget, on Monday, July 18th the Bellingham Bells will be giving out a Bellinghamster Bobblehead to the first 1,000 fans who show up. Here’s your chance to get Dinger, the Bells mascot immortalized in a bobblehead.
