The Boundary Bay Brewery Book Club met again yesterday and decided to change the meetings to once a month only. The club will meet on the third Sundy of every month at 2 pm and discuss the reading selection of that month over great beer! The reading list posted here on our blog is still correct! Join in on the fun of books and beers!
The Boundary Bay Book Club…affectionately known as Books and Beers met for the second time last Sunday and finalized our book list for the rest of the year. It’s posted below so feel free to join in when you can or if you really love a particular book on the list but don’t feel like coming to all of the meetings. We’re pretty flexible about attendance…like most things here at Boundary Bay Brewery! One book will be discussed each month. Roughly the first half of the book will be covered in the first meeting of the month and the remainder of the book will be discussed at the second meeting each month. (By the way, the names in the parenthesis after each book just signifies who, in the book club, is going to be leading the discussion each month.) The Book Club meets every other Sunday at 2 p.m. in the back of our bistro (at least until it warms up some more…and then we’ll probably move down to the Beer Garden!) and snacks will be provided. Hope to see you there!

Yesterday afternoon we had our very first Book Club meeting here at Boundary Bay Brewery. We weren’t sure what the turnout was going to be like and we weren’t really sure exactly how this whole thing would work. Happily, we had about 10 enthusiastic people show up for the book club and they were full of ideas about what they’d like to read and how they want our club to work! Collectively, the group decided that our first book is “The Baron in the Trees” by Italo Calvino. The group will meet every two weeks and deal with one book per month. So, Calvino’s book will be the discussion subject on April 5th and April 19th. However, on April 5th (our next meeting), people in the group are bringing a list of suggestions for what else they’d like to read in this book club. Then, the group will vote on which books they all like and if your book is chosen, you get to lead the discussion(s) that month! We will be notifying our Bellingham Public Library and Village Books (a great local bookstore!) about our book club book choices and they will do everything they can to have a good stock of the books we’re reading. Plus, at Village Books, you can get a 15% discount on the books we’re reading once our club is registered (which should be by the end of this week). Join our book club…we’d love to have you! We’ll see you at 2:00 pm on April 5th…and then every other Sunday after that! Happy Reading.
Do you love books AND brews? We do too! And that’s why Boundary Bay Brewery is staring a book club! Come to our informational meeting on Sunday, March 22nd at 3:00 pm…snacks will be provided. Bring a list of books you want to read and ideas for how you want this group to work. We just want to get a good group of people together who like drinking beer and talking about books. Seriously, it sounds like heaven to me!
