Boundary Bay Brewery on Your iPad!

Posted on February 11, 2011 by Boundary Bay

Here at Boundary Bay Brewery, we love doing as much as we can ourselves.  Right here at the brewery we smoke our own salmon, have our own maintenance and woodworking shop, bottle our own beers and do all our own graphic design, web design, social media and public relations.  Our web designer, Tammy Findlay, created our mobile website last year to optimize our website for your cell phone and this winter, she created a catalog of our merchandise optimized for the iPad.  Here’s what she had to say about the experience:

Introducing the iPad optimized Brewtique Catalog.

“This last winter we spent some time putting together some great photos for our Boundary Bay Merchandise Catalog. I had a very limited budget so we asked our Facebook fans if anyone would be willing to volunteer. We had a huge response and the volunteers were all really great. Especially on that one 20 degree snow day. It really wasn’t “hoodie” weather. I guess we need to make a Boundary Bay puffy coat for those days. My photographer, Nick Pacifico, showed up in shorts that day, simply saying, “I don’t wear pants”. He’s a true pro.

We put together a print version of the booklet and you can look at it when you come into the brewery. It’s located in the foyer on the merchandise table. For the online experience I decided to optimize it for the iPad, because, well, I had to make something for the iPad folks. It’s not an an app, and it’s no Angry Birds. It’s just a part of our website for the iPad. Of course you can still enjoy it on a regular computer online.

As for the future we hope to offer more for iPad users and for mobile users. If you didn’t already hear, we do have a mobile phone website. Your phone should automatically be redirected to it, but if not, just click on the graphic of the iPhone on our home page. We’d love to hear your feedback about the iPad catalog, our mobile site, or any techy thing you’d like to see us build or fix. Thanks for your support. Boundary Bay is really blessed with the best fans!

Special thanks to our models: Bethany, Libby, Fred, Dak, Casey, Cat, Team Boundary Tutu Tandem, Gabe, Ryan, Marla, the Boundary Bay-bies and their parents, Nick, Miles, Snowboarder dude, the Frolfers, Chadwick, Jaimie & Cody. And a big thanks to my photographers, Nick & Ben.”

Buy Local and Be Local for the Holidays

Posted on December 1, 2010 by Boundary Bay

It’s the 1st of December today and, like most of us, you’ve probably started thinking about holiday shopping.

It’s Buy Local week here in Bellingham this week, so we thought we’d take a moment to remind you how important we think it is for you to BUY LOCAL this holiday season!  On Sustainable Connection’s website you can find a list of the Top 10 Reasons to Buy Local, but here are a few of our favorites: less of an environmental impact, investing in your own community and helping to support our local economy!

* Several studies have shown that when you buy from an independent, locally owned business, rather than a nationally owned businesses, significantly more of your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses, service providers and farms — continuing to strengthen the economic base of the community.

* Locally owned businesses can make more local purchases requiring less transportation and generally set up shop in town or city centers as opposed to developing on the fringe. This generally means contributing less to sprawl, congestion, habitat loss and pollution.

* Small local businesses are the largest employer nationally and in our community, provide the most jobs to residents.

* Local businesses are owned by people who live in this community, are less likely to leave, and are more invested in the community’s future.

So, now that you know WHY to shop locally, why not do it?  This Friday, December 3rd, the monthly Art Walk will be taking place all over Downtown Bellingham and it’s a great chance to tackle some of your holiday shopping.  Stop by Boundary Bay Brewery to enjoy a pint or two and see a sample of the incredible local talent available at the Allied Arts Holiday Festival of the Arts.  The festival gathers together work from over 100 local artists, but this year the festival is out on Meridian (just past the mall) and not everyone wants to drive all the way out there.  So, we thought we’d put together a showcase right here in our Downtown brewery to show you the incredible stuff you’ll find at the Holiday Festival of the Arts itself!  Trust us, it’s definitely worth the effort!

This is the 31st Annual Holiday Festival of the Arts and you’ll find great gifts from LOCAL artists like paintings, photography, ornaments, candles, fiber art, handmade books, jewelry and so much more!  The festival is open from 10am – 6pm every Wednesday through Sunday, until December 24th. They’ll even be open on Monday, Dec. 21st and Tuesday, December 22nd, so you can dash in at the last minute if you’ve left your shopping till then.

We’ve also got our Brewtique here at Boundary Bay open if you’re in the mood for merchandise from your local brewery this holiday season!  We have plenty of Holiday Gifts appropriate for anyone in the family: Hoodies, Tees, Brewer Series Tees, Fleece Jackets, Pint Glasses, Growlers, Water Bottles, Onsies, Kids Rootbeer Tees, Disc Golf, Bike Jerseys, Baseball Caps, 22oz bottles of Beer & Gift Cards available in any amount.  Our Brewtique Is Open From 11am To 10pm every day with Personal Shopper Hours (meaning staff there JUST to help YOU!) every Wed-Fri 3-9pm and Sat-Sun 12-8pm. We will have a some new items this year like Mens and Womens running shirts and we;ll be bringing back some old favorites like our Oatmeal Stout Hoodies and Coal Brand Brim Beanies. But head’s up…we are not be ordering any more Anniversary Gear so come in to score your limited edition hoodie or growler before they’re all gone!  You can also score our goodies online!

Boundary Bay Bike Jerseys!

Posted on December 10, 2008 by Boundary Bay

Bellingham is a community that loves its outdoor sports and it’s also a community that loves it’s local brewery!  So, smart ones that we are…we decided to combine the two.  That’s why, for this holiday season, we’ve brought you bike jerseys from Boundary Bay Brewery.  The jerseys sport logos from local bike clubs like Whimps Mountain Bike Club and Mount Baker Bicycle Club.  We also put logos on there for Washington Beer and the Think Local, Buy Local, Be Local logo for Sustainable Connections (both organizations that we are happily members of!).  The best part of the jersey, however, is the back…where we designed it to look as though the wearer of the jersey is riding around with pockets stuffed with 22 oz. bottles of Boundary Bay beer!

Our brewery, which houses a Tap Room and a family friendly Bistro, is located in a historic 1922 warehouse in Downtown Bellingham, across from the Saturday Farmer’s Market.

We also have a great deck for outdoor dining and a Beer Garden where you can enjoy BBQ's and outdoor concerts in the Summer. You can see why this is where the locals love to go!

We work hard to brew great craft beer and we've been recognized with over 70 awards for our handcrafted beers over the years. Come see what makes us so special!
