Boundary Bay Brewery Gears Up For Fat Tuesday

Posted on February 17, 2009 by Boundary Bay

fat_tues_poster_finalOn Tuesday, February 24th, Boundary Bay Brewery will be celebrating Fat Tuesday with a special Cajun menu and Dixieland Jazz brought to you by the Jazz Project.  In French, the term Mardi Gras literally translates as Fat Tuesday.

Fat Tuesday always falls on the day before Ash Wednesday; a day which signifies the beginning of a season of prayer and fasting observed by the Roman Catholic Church and many other Christian denominations which ends on Easter Sunday.  The origin of the festival is believed to have come from the ancient Pagan custom of parading a fat ox through the town streets.  Such Pagan holidays were filled with excessive eating, drinking and general bawdiness prior to a period of fasting.  Today, the festival may not hold so strongly to its religious significance, but it remains a celebration of hedonistic pleasure for all who attend.

Come celebrate with us at Boundary Bay Brewery and indulge in some hedonistic pleasures of your own…even if it’s not because you’ll be fasting once the morning comes.  Get your fill of special menu items like gumbo, blackened salmon sandwich and roast beef po’boy or enjoy your usual favorites (since we’ll always have our standard menu to choose from as well!).  If you’re lucky, we might even have some of our special edition Imperial Porter left on tap to really celebrate Mardi Gras in style!

We pride ourselves on making great handcrafted beer and fresh, local food for the Bellingham community.

Our brewery, which houses a Tap Room and a family friendly Bistro, is located in a historic 1922 warehouse in Downtown Bellingham, across from the Saturday Farmer’s Market.

We also have a great deck for outdoor dining and a Beer Garden where you can enjoy BBQ's and outdoor concerts in the Summer. You can see why this is where the locals love to go!

We work hard to brew great craft beer and we've been recognized with over 70 awards for our handcrafted beers over the years. Come see what makes us so special!
