Mardi Gras Menu at Boundary Bay Brewery

Posted on February 20, 2012 by Boundary Bay

We’re celebrating Mardi Gras here at Boundary Bay Brewery on Tuesday, February 21st.  We’ll have live music from the Clearbrook Dixieland Band to entertain you and a special menu packed with Cajun delights:

Red Beans & Rice with Andouille Sausage

Roast Beef Po’ Boy – Braised beef shoulder doused in spicy debris gravy, piled high on top of a soft French roll with mayonnaise & shredded iceberg lettuce. Served with your choice side: salad, roasted potatoes, or Tim’s potato chips.

Gumbo – A rich and hearty stew full of tender chicken thigh meat, Andouille sausage, bell peppers, onions, okra, and shrimp. Seasoned with Cajun spices and a dark “chocolate” roux. Served with rice.

Trout Meunière – Seasoned, de-boned fresh trout, pan fried and topped with a traditional brown butter, lemon and shallot sauce with a splash of our Irish Red Ale. Served with Yukon gold mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

Red Beans and Rice with Andouille Sausage – Red beans slow cooked with, onion, celery, bell pepper, garlic, and smoked ham. Served with rice and traditional Louisiana-style smoked sausage.

muffaletta sandwich

Channel Cat Po’ Boy – Catfish seasoned with paprika, cayenne, thyme, oregano, and other spices blackened in a cast iron skillet served on fresh French roll with pickles and slaw. Served with your choice side: salad, roasted potatoes, or Tim’s potato chips.

Muffuletta Sandwich – Provolone cheese, fresh Mozzarella, Genoa salami, Capicola salume, and Mortadella (contains pistachio nuts) topped with an olive salad and served on a foccacia from Avenue Bread. Served with your choice side: salad, roasted potatoes, or Tim’s potato chips.

Fried Frog Legs – Flour dredged and pan fried, this signature Cajun appetizer comes with three pieces and a spicy, creamy rémoulade made with our Irish Red Ale.

Come celebrate with us!  Cheers.

Boundary Bay Brewery Gears Up For Fat Tuesday

Posted on February 17, 2009 by Boundary Bay

fat_tues_poster_finalOn Tuesday, February 24th, Boundary Bay Brewery will be celebrating Fat Tuesday with a special Cajun menu and Dixieland Jazz brought to you by the Jazz Project.  In French, the term Mardi Gras literally translates as Fat Tuesday.

Fat Tuesday always falls on the day before Ash Wednesday; a day which signifies the beginning of a season of prayer and fasting observed by the Roman Catholic Church and many other Christian denominations which ends on Easter Sunday.  The origin of the festival is believed to have come from the ancient Pagan custom of parading a fat ox through the town streets.  Such Pagan holidays were filled with excessive eating, drinking and general bawdiness prior to a period of fasting.  Today, the festival may not hold so strongly to its religious significance, but it remains a celebration of hedonistic pleasure for all who attend.

Come celebrate with us at Boundary Bay Brewery and indulge in some hedonistic pleasures of your own…even if it’s not because you’ll be fasting once the morning comes.  Get your fill of special menu items like gumbo, blackened salmon sandwich and roast beef po’boy or enjoy your usual favorites (since we’ll always have our standard menu to choose from as well!).  If you’re lucky, we might even have some of our special edition Imperial Porter left on tap to really celebrate Mardi Gras in style!
