Did you know that Boundary Bay Brewery has the longest running jazz night in Bellingham? Some out there even believe that our Jazz night has lasted longer than any employee at Boundary Bay besides Janet and Ed! Come see what this long-standing tradition is all about!
Join Jud Sherwood of The Jazz Project for Bellingham’s only jazz jam session, 8:30-11:30 on Tuesday in the taproom at Boundary Bay.
The basic format for the Jazz Jam is a three set session. The first set features a rotating house trio, then the second and third set is for the jam session. The open mic starts at 9:30 and players who want to call tunes can be backed up by the house trio. So grab your horn or fiddle or guitar or whatever…warm up those vocal cords and get on down here! Show us what you got!! Or if performing isn’t really your style, just pull up a chair, enjoy a pint and cheer on the musicians.

Jazz Night at Boundary Bay Brewery
Jud Sherwood, Director of The Jazz Project, adopted the Boundary Bay Jazz Jam in October of 2008 and now hosts performers from Vancouver BC to Portland Oregon every Tuesday night from 8:30-11:30. He loves the Jazz Night at Boundary because he thinks that “Jazz Night is all about discovery. Sometimes you discover something you want to know, and other times you discover things you never wanted to know. Sometimes you are pleasantly surprised, sometimes you’re just surprised. That’s why they call jazz, the sound of surprise.” Jud founded The Jazz Project in 1997 to promote jazz from a player’s perspective. As a professional jazz drummer he has worked with musicians from around the world including John Stowell, Nancy King, Kevin Mahogany, Miles Black, Herb Ellis, Teddy Edwards, Bill Perkins among many others.
Jud has been producing concerts in Bellingham since 1992. He is a two-time recipient of the Mayor’s Arts Award, most recently receiving one in 2006. He has received 15 consecutive grants from The Washington State Arts Commission (including this year’s upgrade to an Organization Support recipient) to present regional, national, and international touring artists. He has received national recognition for many of his professional recordings through The Jazz Project record label. The Jazz Project supports many local non-profit organizations and hosts workshops and clinics for local schools. The Project provides scholarships and lessons for low-income families and provides an instrument donation/refurbishing program, placing instruments into hands of children who can’t afford them.
So join us!
