Posted on June 17, 2011 by Boundary Bay

Busy people don’t need beer any less.  In fact, one could argue, they need beer even MORE!  Luckily, we’ve got a mobile version of our website that allows you to access all our vital info on your phone wherever you are.  We’ve been tweaking our website a bit too, to make finding what you’re after even easier.

Now, if you’re not right here in Bellingham at our brewpub, but you’re suffering from a hankering for a pint of Boundary Bay Brewery beer, you can search by city for where to find our beer on tap or in bottles.  And if you already know WHERE to get your hands on our beer, check our awards page to find out which awards the beer you’re drinking has brought home.  You can search by beer, festival or even year!

If you head to our website on your phone you should be automatically redirected to the mobile version of our site.  But, if you’re not, you can always click on the mobile phone icon in the top left corner of our home page.  Once you’re on the mobile sight, you’ll see a bunch of icons. We’re gonna give you the low down right here in case you’re confused.  And, if you’re on the go and you need a quick reminder of the icons, just click on the question mark in the bottom left corner of the mobile website to access this same information.

Local Connections – Book Fare Cafe

Posted on March 14, 2011 by Boundary Bay

We’re always looking for new ways to keep our Boundary Bay Brewery blog interesting and engaging.  One of the new ideas we’ve come up with is something we’re calling “Local Connections.”  By now, we’re sure you know that supporting local business has always been important to the way we do OUR business and when we realized that we could extend that outlook to our blog as well, we got really excited!  There are an incredible number of interesting, unique businesses in our little corner of the Northwest who choose to have Boundary Bay beer on tap (see the complete list here) and we’re starting to showcase them on our blog through video interviews at the establishments themselves.

Our very first episode in the Local Connections series was filmed earlier this month at the Book Fare Cafe, located inside Village Books, right here in Bellingham. The owner, Charles Claassen, was gracious enough to turn over his morning to our video camera and questions…check out what he’s got to say about beer, books and keeping business local:

Adrift With Boundary Bay Beer

Posted on August 12, 2009 by Boundary Bay

So, you’re out on a day trip next weekend and you find yourself in Anacortes, but hankering for a nice refreshing Boundary Bay Brewery beer.  You don’t want to head all the way back into Bellingham…you’re hungry now.  What to do?  Stop in at the Adrift Cafe right in in the historic Wells Building in Old Town Anacortes where you can find Boundary Bay beer on tap!  The cafe was voted 2008 and 2009 Anacortes’ Best Restaurant and Best Vegetarian Restaurant by the readers of the Anacortes American.  Why is it so wonderful, you ask?

Picture 10Well, Adrift transforms the bounty from the Skagit Valley farmlands and the surrounding waters of the Straits of Juan de Fuca into superior cuisine.  But don’t let that deter you if you’re in your beach clothes and not feeling like fancy dining.  The beauty of Adrift is the fine dining in the cluttered, comfy environment.  Tables are scattered throughout the room and interspersed with shelves crammed full of used books – to enjoy while you dine or to purchase and take home.  It’s the perfect blend of relaxed environment and upscale meals.  There is no one defining category of food here – whether it’s a Thai curry or a Skagit burger – the common ingredient is local love. Food and community are inextricably twined for this businesses, and they believe we all need both for complete nourishment. To that end, Adrift strives to use the best quality local ingredients available, in order to feed you and to support our neighbors. Much of their art, décor and ambience are created by local friends as well.  Adrift says that they are a reflection of everything that is important to the Anacortes community: wonderful food, fine drink, outstanding art, virtuoso music, and the camaraderie of friends. And, if the great food and laid back atmosphere aren’t enough to get you to go, check out the many offerings Adrift provides:  outstanding arts and music events regularly at the restaurant, catering, take-away, baked goods, cooking classes and rotating art exhibits.  You have no reason to stay away…especially because you can always get Boundary Bay beer there on tap!  Located on Commercial Ave. between 5th & 6th Ave. Adrift is in the large green building across from the Anacortes Post Office. Map available over at Google Maps.  Adrift is open Monday thru Thursday: 8am till 9pm Friday & Saturday: 8am till 10pm.  CLOSED Sundays.

The Largest Brewpub in the Nation is Bottling Beer Today!

Posted on October 27, 2008 by Boundary Bay

Earlier this year, Boundary Bay Brewery was declared the largest brewpub in the nation (based on 2007 beer production) according to the “New Brewer,” the official publication of the Brewer’s Association, which is the national craft beer organization. Each year, the Brewers Association compile statistics based on the amount of beer barrels sold, and in the case of brewpubs, how much of that beer is sold on site.  They define a brewpub as a restaurant-brewery that sells 25% or more of its beer on site; a company would be classified as a microbrewery if its distributed beer sales exceeded 75%. Being a brewpub, we here at Boundary Bay consume most of our beer on site thanks to our loyal patrons and employees!  The second largest percentage of our beer gets distributed to restaurants and bars from Bellingham to Olympia and even into Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.  (click here to find places that carry our beer near you!)  Once those demands are filled, we bottle what we’ve got left and sell 22 oz. bottles here at our brewery and in select grocery stores in the region.  We are finding it harder and harder to keep our 22’s in stock and we’ve been sold out even here in the brewery for a good portion of the summer.  Luckily, though, today marks the end of that sad drought!  Our brewers are working hard today to bottle our ever popular IPA and our Scotch Ale…both longtime favorites of myself and many others (as proven by our long list of awards for these two brews!).  And just about this time next month, the long awaited Cabin Fever will be available in bottles for the first (and possibly only) time all year!  Luckily, those 22’s will come out just in time to grace Thanksgiving tables everywhere!  Come on down to Boundary Bay this week to pick up some IPA and Scotch Ale to kick off your Halloween night right.  And then mark your calendars for the last week of November so you don’t miss your chance to grab everyone’s favorite Winter Warmer!
